  • Article on Ozawa's April 1942 raid in Bay of Bengal

I recently completed an article on the Japanese navy's 5-6 April 1942 foray into the Bay of Bengal. The aim of the article is to demonstrate conclusively that he sank 20 ships and not the 23 credited to him in the 1956 British official history. It can be accessed through the articles page of the CombinedFleet.com site, at http://www.combinedfleet.com/articles.htm. It is entitled "20 Ships, Not 23: Ozawa's Score, 5-6 April 1942".

Three of the 20 ships Ozawa sank were Dutch, so members of this forum may find the article of interest. I'd also like to thank Willem Cool for the info he shared with me on the three Dutch ships, especially the detailed account on the loss of Van der Capellen.

I would be delighted if forum members would care to comment on the article, including noting any errors or omissions - of which I'm sure there are at least a few. :-)

    Thanks,

    Rob
