Hi.

Me interest when and what Dutch warships were in Latvia with visits in 1920-30.
It is necessary for an identification of photos.

Here a photo of submarine K XI and battleship JACOB VAN HEEMSKERCK in Riga in 1925.

Dutch warships (english HNLMS > Dutch Queen ) and in (Dutch Hr.Ms >Hare Majesteit> Koningin )

Dutch squadron:
10 June - 4 Aug 1925:
Hr.Ms.O 8, Hr.Ms. K XI, Hr.Ms. Jacob van Heemskerck, Hr.Ms.Tromp, Hr.Ms. Z 3 and Hr.Ms.Z 5 are part of a squadron trip to the Baltic, which visits the ports of Lithuania, Letland, Estonia and Finland.

Hello Alex,

Your first two pictures show "K-XI" and "Jacob van Heemskerck" arriving at Riga on 1.7.1925.
Leaving Riga at 5.7.1925.
The third pictures shows "Hertog Hendrik" arriving at Riga on 12.7.1934. Leaving again on 16.7.1934.
The fourth picture shows "Hertog Hendrik", "O 10" and "O 11" during their visit 21.7.1927-26.7.1927.
The fifth picture shows "Hertog Hendrik", "K-XVII", "Z 5" and "Evertsen" during their visit 12.7.1934-16.7.1934.

Two more photos - again Riga.

1. K XVIII and one more submarine on the right on a background. When?

The dog in the right corner of a photo, apparently, is not so happy with visit.

2. O 9 and O 10. When?

Thanks again for the beautiful pictures.

This first one shows K-XVIII arriving at Riga 12.7.1934. Leaving again on 16.7.1934.
On the right K-XVII can be seen nearing to moor, probably alongside the K-XVIII.

The second picture shows O-9 and O-10 during their visit to Riga from
28.5.1936 till 2.6.1936.

Another nice picture. Thank you.

1. "Z 3" and "Z 4" are not destroyers but torpedoboats.
2. Place is Riga. Date 1.7.1925 - 5.7.1925.
3. In the background you can see, from right to left, the Dutch coastal defence ship "Jacob van Heemskerck"
and the battleship (very optimistically so called in Jane's Fighting Ships) "Marten Harpertszoon Tromp".
4. In the middle of the picture it shows the "Virsaitis" (gunboat) which accompanied the Dutch ships from the
sea into Riga.

1. The Dutch warships participated in celebrating the 10 anniversary of the Latvian fleet in July 1931 (Liepaja/Libava)?

2. Whether there is no at you an information on visiting Riga by the Danish warships? In particular coastal defence ship "Niels Juel" and torpedoboats.

Hello Alex,

Although "Jacob van Heemskerck", "Z 7", "Z 8", "O 9" and "O 10" held excercises in the Baltic Sea
in the period 1.7 - 7.8.1931 they did not visit Riga.

Sorry Alex but I have no information on Danish warships visiting Riga.
