A moment or two became a moment or 3......

All I could find was a pharagrph in a book called "Hr. Ms. Kruiser De Ruyter 1933 - 1942"

I've tried to translate this piece of text for you...

The light 12.7mm machine-guns, also of Dutch origin, were also placed in twin mountings, two pair on the navigation
bridge behind and above gun position No.3 (single 15cm main-gun red.) and the remaining pair were situated on
platforms, in front of the armoured conning-tower, at the second-highest level of this conning-tower. These 12.7mm
gunbatteries did not have a centralised gunnery control and operated in 'local control' only, with the help of portable
      rangefinders.
The railings on the gun-bordesses could be flipped over to a horizontal position to give a negative deflection to the guns,
      so creating a anti-surface capability.
The positioning of the 12.7mm AA-guns so close to the superstructure meant the arc of fire to the aft end of the ship was
      very limited.
I could not find a decent pic of such a gun-battery, but I think they were of allmost the same type as mounted on several mine-
sweepers and other small vessels from that time..

Hi Willem. Thank you very much!
But see at least photo, pictures or drawings of these guns???
Interestingly, these guns were still during the Battle of the Java Sea???
        Or were they removed????
I'm going to make another batch of model "De Ruyter" and I want to make additions ... Best wishes. Boris.

Those are the twin 0.5" Colt machine guns on Solothurn mounts.

This is an image from the original plans of De Ruyter. You can find previews of images of the mount here. I've not been able to find better drawings.

Are you making the model as she was configured when sunk?

If so, don't forget to put 'sheilds' on the 'face' of all the Bofors.

Yes, the wreck of De Ruyter shows these shields: http://www.netherlandsnavy.nl/Photo_ruyter.htm, plus a few images of De Ruyter in camouflage. Java had the same shields.

Additional links to discussions regarding these shields:
